producer, as we are working on the GALTCO
Project, our Green Aluminium Transformation
Complex for Colombia.
WHY COLOMBIA?
There are numerous reasons to think of Colombia as an ideal place for investment, too many to list them all in this article, therefore we will only present a few of them.
- Colombia is a country that has demonstrated economic and political stability over the last 50 years, all of this articulated by effective, responsible and continuous policies of correct fiscal management. Its inflation is controlled and is lower than the world average, and that of countries with emerging economies.
- Country Risk values show better performance than those of South American countries with some potential to compete with Colombia in the financing of aluminium production plants.
Colombia has 14 trade agreements and 3 partial scope agreements in force, allowing the country to have preferred access to more than 45 countries and about 1.5 billion consumers in markets such as the United States, the European Union, Brazil, Mexico, Chile or Peru; and soon with Costa Rica and Korea, nations with which treaties are currently in force.
- Colombia is a member of the Pacific Alliance.
- A special tax regime has been structured with unique and attractive benefits, with enormous marketing possibilities or legal conditions that facilitate foreign direct investment in Colombia, having more Free Trade Zone than any other country in LATAM.
- The geographical location of Colombia serves as a connection point between the northern and southern countries of the hemisphere. It is also the gateway to South America, with ports that serve the rest of the Americas, Europe and countries in the Pacific basin.
- Colombia has an efficient investment promotion
program, where it shows investors the multiple advantages that this country

ALUMINIUM IN COLOMBIA
As we have seen, Colombia is a country that occupies leadership positions in LATAM; with a modern, stable, honest and hard-working government that has managed to grow and strengthen the society and economy of Colombia, and is fully committed to make Colombia a leader in the region in industrialization with special attention to the orange and renewable economies.
Given the hitherto explained and considering the growing demand for aluminium worldwide, we are working to make the construction of the first aluminium smelter in Colombia a reality.
GREEN ALUMINIUM
GALTCO will produce more than 500.000 tons of
primary aluminium per year, and in accordance with Colombia's very strong
culture of environmental protection, our aluminium will be produced using
electricity generated by renewable sources.
STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY
Our GALTCO project is based on the use of cutting-edge technologies, which guarantee an outstanding performance, such as the electrolytic cells of Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) amongst the most efficient in the aluminium smelting industry worldwide.

With GALTCO we will show the world: i) Colombia: the determination of Colombia and its Government to promote the industrialization of the country, and to be the New Kid in The Block of aluminium producing countries; and ii) EGA: its capabilities to occupy the leadership role, to provide the aluminium production technology that the world requires, to undertake the necessary projects to satisfy humanity's growing demand for this important metal.
CONCLUSIONS:
- Colombia has privileged conditions as a recipient of foreign direct investment when compared to other LATAM countries.
- Colombia has the potential to be a primary aluminium producer, which will be achieved through the GALTCO Project.
